JUBILEE CLAMP
JUBILEE CLAMP
Jubilee clamp (also known as a hose clamp or worm-drive clamp) is a device used to attach and seal a hose onto a fitting such as a barb or pipe. In the context of a cable jointing kit, especially for low voltage (LV) or medium voltage (MV) cable joints, a Jubilee clamp can serve several purposes:
Use of Jubilee Clamp in Cable Jointing Kits:
- Securing Cable Sheath or Armour:
- In armoured cable joints, the Jubilee clamp is often used to securely hold the cable’s metallic armour or wire braid in place.
- It ensures proper electrical contact between the cable armour and the jointing sleeve or continuity strap.
- Strain Relief:
- It provides mechanical strain relief by clamping down on the cable sheath, ensuring that external pulling or movement doesn’t affect the internal joint.
- Earthing Continuity:
- Jubilee clamps are used to maintain earthing continuity between the two ends of armoured cable being jointed.
- In some joint kits, they are combined with copper braid or earth continuity kits.
- Sealing Support:
- In heat-shrink or cold-shrink cable joints, the clamp might help maintain pressure or assist in holding parts in place during installation.
