Aluminium Mould Sealant Tape

Aluminium Mould Sealant Tape

Aluminium mould sealant tape is a specialized sealing material commonly used during the installation of medium and high voltage cable joints. Its primary function is to create a moisture-proof, pressure-resistant, and formable moldaround the joint area during resin or gel filling, ensuring the correct shape and containment for the filling compound.

Key Features and Properties:

  1. Aluminium Foil Backing:
  • Provides formability and mechanical strength, allowing the tape to maintain shape during the casting process.
  • Acts as a barrier against moisture, heat, and resin leakage.
  • Reflects heat, aiding in the curing process for heat-activated or thermosetting resins.
  1. Sealant Adhesive Layer:
  • Backed with a pressure-sensitive, mastic-like or butyl-based sealant.
  • Offers excellent adhesion to cable surfaces (PVC, XLPE, rubber, etc.) and other joint components.
  • Ensures tight sealing, preventing resin leakage and moisture ingress during the jointing process.
  1. Flexible and Conformable:
  • Can be easily shaped around complex joint geometries, cable contours, and irregular surfaces.
  • Compatible with both heat shrink and cold shrink jointing methods.
  •

Applications in Cable Joints:

  1. Forming a Resin Mould:
  • Commonly used to create a temporary mold around a joint area before pouring or injecting joint resin.
  • Ensures the resin remains in place and cures in the desired shape.
  1. Sealing of Entry/Exit Points:
  • Used at cable entry/exit points of joint kits or enclosures to prevent resin leakage and moisture intrusion.
  1. Mechanical Protection:

Acts as a protective barrier during installation and curing, preventing damage to inner components and maintaining pressure inside the mold.
