Introduction
In medium and high-voltage cable systems, proper termination is critical to ensure long-term reliability and electrical performance. One vital component used during cable terminations is stress grading yellow mastic tape. This tape plays an essential role in managing electrical stress concentrations that naturally occur where the cable insulation ends and connections are made.

Purpose of Stress Grading Tape
Electrical stress is not uniformly distributed around the end of a cable insulation layer. Without intervention, high stress points could lead to partial discharge, corona effects, or eventual breakdown of the insulation, leading to cable failure.
Stress grading yellow mastic tape is designed to smooth out these electrical stress concentrations by providing a semi-conductive or resistive layer that allows a controlled dissipation of electrical field gradients.

 

Properties of Yellow Mastic Stress Grading Tape
