A black cable breakout in cable termination kits is a molded polymer (usually heat-shrinkable ) component used to cover and protect the point where the main cable is split into individual cores during termination.

Purpose / Function:

• Provides mechanical protection to the breakout area where the outer sheath is removed.
• Ensures sealing against moisture, dust, and contaminants.
• Offers electrical insulation to prevent tracking and flashover.
• Maintains the shape and alignment of the separated cores.
• Enhances the overall strength and durability of the termination.

🔹 Where it is used:

• In 2 / 3 / 4 core XLPE/PVC cables where the outer sheath is stripped and the cores are splayed out for termination.

Installed at the point where the cable branches out, usually at the end of the cable before lugs & tubes are applied.
