Shear head lugs are mechanical type cable lugs used in cable jointing and termination kits for making reliable electrical connections between the conductor and the equipment (like joints, terminations, switchgear, or transformers).

They are mechanical compression lugs designed with pre-calibrated shear bolts.

Instead of using crimping tools (as in crimping lugs), you tighten the bolts with a normal spanner/torque wrench until the bolt head shears off at a predetermined torque.

This ensures consistent and reliable contact pressure irrespective of the installer’s skill.
