Triple Skirt

Triple Skirt

A triple skirt is a key insulating and environmental sealing component used in heat shrink cable jointing kits, especially for medium voltage (MV) and high voltage (HV) cable joints. It plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and safety of cable joints, particularly in outdoor and underground installations.

Purpose and Function

The triple skirt is designed to:

  • Provide insulation: It enhances the dielectric strength around the cable joint, preventing electrical discharges and improving performance.
  • Offer environmental protection: Acts as a barrier against moisture, dust, and other contaminants that can compromise the joint.
  • Control electric field: Its layered shape helps in managing and evenly distributing the electric field stress at the joint, especially where the cable insulation ends.
  • Ensure mechanical integrity: Protects the joint from physical damage and environmental effects over time.
